Opportunities to Connect!

Spending winter break on-campus? We’re excited to stay connected with you! UCLA Residential Life is hosting nightly programming from 7-8:30 PM, starting with a special kickoff on Friday, December 12, and running through Saturday, January 3.

Join us in the Sproul Landing Living Room for a cozy rotation of activities, crafts, games, and, on 5 select nights, free dinner! Whether you’re looking to meet new people, relax, or just enjoy a warm space with fellow Bruins, there’s something for everyone.

We can’t wait to spend the break with you!

To help us order food and plan ahead, please submit your RSVP. Food will be provided on:

  • Friday, December 12th - Kickoff!
  • Wednesday, December 24th - Christmas Eve
  • Thursday, December 25th - Christmas Day
  • Wednesday, December 31st - New Year's Eve
  • Thursday, January 1st - New Year's Day

Winter Stay-Through Program RSVP 

Important Information

Reactivate your BruinCard

All BruinCards will be deactivated at 10:00 pm on Friday, December 12. Your front desk will reactivate your card if you’re an approved Stay-Through resident. You can update your BruinCard any time beginning the week of 12/9, please do so before 10:00 pm on 12/13.

University Wide Closure - Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, January 2

In an effort to conserve energy, decrease costs to residents, and efficiently allocate resources between the Fall and Winter Quarters, the University enters a period of closure from December 24 to January 2.

Required personnel and services will stay open through this time (for example: Covel Dispatch, Maintenance, UCPD, etc.).

Need Support? Front Desk and Covel Dispatch Operations

If your Front Desk is not open and you need immediate assistance, remember that Covel Front Desk (Dispatch) is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Visit Covel Front Desk (Dispatch) on the first floor of Covel Commons or call them at (310) 206-9633 (x69633).

Winter Break Hours for Front Desks

  • Sat 12/13: Close at 5:00 pm
  • Sun 12/14 - Fri 12/19: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Sat 12/20 - Thurs 1/1: All Front Desks will be closed. Dispatch (Covel) will be open 24/7.
  • Fri 1/2: All front desks resume 24-hour service at 8:00 am.

  • If you or another is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911.

  • If it’s not an emergency, but you need UCPD support, call (310) 825-1491.

  • To contact a Residential Life Resident Director, call OCH Dispatch at (310) 206-9633.

  • For Community Service Officer (CSO) Escort Service to and from campus and the nearby area, please call (310) 794-WALK. Hours are dusk until 1AM.

  • RAs will provide duty coverage at night throughout Winter break to ensure safety in our communities. During the day, duty coverage will be provided by a Resident Director.

  • NOTE: The BruinCard Center will not be open during Winter Break. Please take extra precautions to ensure that you have your BruinCard on you at all times.

Maintenance on the Hill

Campus closures are the best time for UCLA Housing to perform routine maintenance, water and power in a few locations will be shut off at certain times during Winter Break. Security within living quarters are ensured and enforced. Building utilities (e.g. heat and water) will still be available to any residents who are affected by the maintenance work.

The maintenance and shutoff schedules are still being determined. Please be aware of signage on the floor for information about this.

Dining on the Hill

The last meal on your regular dining plan before Winter Break is lunch on Friday, December 12. The first meal for Winter Quarter 2025 will be dinner on Sunday, January 4.

  • Dinner: 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

ASUCLA Restaurants will be open on select days during Winter Break. Visit the ASUCLA website or download the Benefits U app on your mobile device for updated holiday hours.

Mailroom Hours

The Mail Center will be fully accessible to residents during Winter Break.

  • Mon - Sat: 12:00 to 5:00 pm
  • Sun: 1:00 to 5:00 pm
  • 12/24, 12/25, 12/31, 1/1: Closed

Campus transportation and shuttle services will be reduced during Winter Break, but larger mass transit lines are still running.
