Media Assistant
The Media Assistant is responsible for creating professional content for Residential Life projects. They cover events and meetings and develop videos, design, and take for a variety of relevant media projects. The Media Assistant works closely with Program & Event Management Professional Staff to coordinate deliverables, timelines, and project details.
Expectations
- Minimum 8-10 hours working commitment per week (consisting of all of the below and job responsibilities) (Maximum hours available per week to full time students is 19.5 hours)
- Communicating promptly and effectively via Slack and email
- Participation in regular meetings with Media Assistant Team and professional staff supervisor
- Commitment to your weekly office hours shift and additionally assigned shifts
- Punctuality and participation in team meetings, event coverage, and other activities
- Commitment to September Training before school starts (2025 dates TBA) and mandatory quarterly continuing education training
- Taking ownership of your work and being accountable
- Keeping the shared office space clean and organized
Responsibilities
Including but not limited to...
- Creating professional creative content for team and departmental projects
- Creating visuals for social, print, and web formats
- Writing copy for media posts, website, presentation and publication materials
- Capturing images and footage, producing and editing videos
- Monitor and maintaining the conditions of equipment inventoried for photography, videography, and design projects
- Responding to emails and inquiries on relevant social platforms
- Writing copy for media posts, website, presentation and publication materials
- Engaging with our campus partners (Student Affairs is responsible for 25+ departments) and
amplifying their events and announcements on socials - Covering events on a weekly basis
- Completing assigned posting and interaction duties on a weekly basis
- Delivering assigned projects (both internal and campus partners) in full on a timely manner (by
the deadlines set alongside Social Squad Lead(s)/clients) - Updating project statuses in established project management system
- Communicating with the lead(s) and other squad members to check in regularly with progress
- Bringing in new ideas and trending concepts
- Collaborating with team members to learn and share skills
Minimum Academic Requirements
In order to support the academic success of our student staff, Residential Life conducts Grade Point Average and Enrollment Checks for all student employee positions. We may conduct these checks at the time of application and any time thereafter once the student has accepted a job offer.
- For this position, a student must have a 2.0 minimum cumulative GPA at the time of application, hire, and/or rehire (beginning of Fall Quarter of each academic year).
- For this position, a student must maintain full-time status (12 units per quarter) during time of employment.
Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications is preferred, but not required
- Experience with operating videography and photography equipment, post-production software, and design software (such as Creative Cloud) is preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of general office duties and driver’s license is preferred, but not required
- Currently enrolled undergraduate students and in good academic standing.
Compensation
$17.60/hour, Paid Bi-weekly
Location
Primarily based on the Hill in Bradley 308, but location may vary per projects
