Eight Executive Board members serve as the leadership team for the On-Campus Housing Council. Executive Board members must be residents of On-Campus Housing and be in good disciplinary standing with the University and Residential Life. Additionally, Executive Board members must uphold the True Bruin standards of Integrity, Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Respect, and display these values throughout the year.

OCHC Executive Board Expectations

Specific Position Responsibilities

Executive Board Positions and Responsibilities: Overall it is expected that each Executive Board member will dedicate 15-20 hours a week, hold up to 12 office hours a week, attend various additional meetings outside of OCHC that pertain to the Hill interest, and meet weekly with the OCHC adviser. Additionally, One must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and live in On Campus Housing.

Recruitment

  1. The President, Director of Finance, Director of Technology and Director of Programming will be appointed by
    the current On-Campus Housing Council representatives and the On-Campus Housing
    Council Executive Board who are not reapplying as any of these positions.
    a. Each of the candidates will have to turn in an application
    b. They will then go through an interview process
    c. The candidate must receive a plurality vote to be appointed
    d. In the case of a tie, an additional vote will held consisting of the two tied
    candidates until one candidate gains a simple majority (51%+) vote
  1. The NCC, Transfer Student Representative, Director of Sustainability, and Director of National Residence Hall Honorary
    will be chosen by a Hill-wide election
    a. Candidates must turn in an application first before running a campaign. This
    application will be posted online for voters to read.
    b. The candidate with the most votes will win the election for that position
    c. Campaigning will begin on a Monday and end on the Thursday of that week;
    voting will happen on Friday

    e. The Transfer Student Representative must be a transfer student.

Compensation

Executive Board members are compensated with a stipend based on position.

Meeting Structure

Academic weeks 1-10, Weekly, Executive Board Meetings (TBD based on schedules), Tuesday 5:00-6:00 PM (Policy Review Board) and 6:00-7:30 PM (general council).

Meetings take place in order to gather student leadership of the Hill and provide a forum for these leaders to advocate on behalf of their residents needs and for a positive Hill experience. Meeting topics include: Hill Policy, OCHC Signature Programs, General advocacy around hill and campus issues. Meetings will be interesting, fun, and developmental for the students in attendance.

OCHC Programming

In an effort to provide epic social programs, OCHC will execute two all Hill events per quarter and True Bruin Welcome Week. These programs will be imagined and executed in concert with all members of OCHC with leadership from the OCHC Program Director.

Executive Board Positions and Responsibilities

President

  1. The President is the official representative of the On-Campus Housing Council to the
    administration of Residential Life, Housing, and UCLA. Their duties are as follows:
  2. Lead Policy Review Board meetings every week unless there is an agreement
    amongst On-Campus Housing Council representatives to cancel it
  3. Lead the On-Campus Housing Council representatives meetings every week to
    discuss Hill-wide programming, advocacy initiatives, and also to vote on
    legislation brought up by other Resident Government Council or On-Campus
    Housing Council members
  4. Lead weekly executive board meetings and create the agenda
  5. Keep each of the executive board members and On-Campus Housing Council
    representatives accountable for their roles, responsibilities, and attendance at
    meetings
  6. Conduct one on one meetings with each On-Campus Housing Council
    representative at least once a quarter
  7. Maintain strong communication with each of the other executive board members
    and their respective advisors
  8. Assist the Director of Programming in Hill-wide programming of legacy events
  9. Must attend summer training
  10. Must conduct a minimum of 10 office hours per week in the Leadership Lab

Finance Director

  1. Create annual budget and manage Quickbooks to write checks for reimbursements
  2. Oversee and provide assistance to building treasurers via Quickbooks training sessions
    and quarterly audits
  3. Run Funding Advisory Board and review funding proposals
  4. Must attend summer training
  5. Must conduct a minimum of 10 office hours per week in the Leadership Lab

Programming Director

  1. Coordinates all logistical aspects of official On-Campus Housing Council programs,
    including: reserving facilities, organizing setup, managing the vision of the event, and
    creating resident awareness of these programs
  2. Managing Hill Council Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
  3. Oversees Welcome Week programming (i.e. True Bruin Welcome)
  4. Oversees On-Campus Housing Council Legacy programs (2-3 per year) including but
    not limited to Haunted Hill and Casino Night
  5. Manage, update, and improve On-Campus Housing Council website
  6. Direct, create, and upload promotional photo / video content
  7. Take minutes during the On-Campus Housing Council meeting.
  8. Must conduct a minimum 10 hours of office hours per week in the Leadership Lab
  9. Must attend summer training

Director of NRHH

  1. Shall be responsible for preparing agendas, developing the meeting experience, and
    presiding over meetings of National Residence Hall Honorary
  2. Assists and collaborates in planning programs with Service and Engagement Chair to
    facilitate service opportunities for Hill residents
  3. Assists in facilitating and coordinating all recognition programs and activities including
    the Of-the-Month (OTM) submissions, as well as membership and induction process,
    with Recognition Chair

  4. Strives to enhance visibility of National Residence Hall Honorary within the UCLA
    On-Campus Housing Community.
  5. Must attend NACURH and PACURH conferences (NACURH- May/June, PACURH
    Regional Leadership Conference- October / November, PACURH Regional Business
    Conference- January / February)
  6. Holds one-on-one meetings once every two weeks with National Residence Hall
    Honorary Executive Board members and weekly with National Residence Hall Honorary
    advisors
  7. Must attend summer training
  8. Conducts a minimum of 8 office hours per week

Director of Sustainability

  1. Responsible for preparing agendas and presiding over Team Green general meetings
  2. Oversees Team Green legacy programs and advocacy initiatives including but not
    limited to Energy Games Kickoff and Veg Pledge
  3. Coordinates with the UCLA Housing and Hospitality Services’ Sustainability Manager to
    promote sustainability on UCLA Housing facilities
  4. Works with Team Green to review and recommend policy to advance economic, ethical,
    and environmental sustainability
  5. Holds one-on-one meetings once every two weeks with Executive Board members and
    weekly with Team Green advisor(s)
  6. Must attend summer training
  7. Conducts a minimum of 8 office hours per week

National Communications Coordinator

  1. Attend all USAC meetings as a representative of On-Campus Housing Council and
    UCLA Residential Life
  2. Represent UCLA On-Campus Housing Council at all conferences and business
    meetings affiliated with the National Association of College and University Residence
    Halls (NACURH)
  3. Recruit all delegates and prepare for conferences (PACURH, NACURH, and “No-Frills”)
  4. Oversee NACURH Member School Affiliation process to ensure that all requirements for
    membership in the Pacific Affiliation of College and University Residence Halls
    (PACURH) and NACURH are fulfilled
  5. Encourage use and benefits of membership in PACURH and NACURH
  6. Inform Resident Government Council and On-Campus Housing Council Executive Board
    members of regional and national events, opportunities, and important updates /
    information as able
  7. Be the main contact person for campus organizations and other residential life
    organizations
  8. Must attend summer training
  9. Take minutes during the Policy Review Board Meeting.
  10. Conduct a minimum of 8 office hours
